A CONTEMPORARY TRANSFORMATION OF A FEDERATION COTTAGE
This pretty Federation cottage had wonderful original features but needed a considered renovation to the rear to capitalise on the substantial north facing back garden. We transformed the rear living spaces with an expansive double height kitchen, dining and living space which spills on to a batten-covered terrace. The recycled brick fireplace with high level windows and large stacking doors creates the ultimate in family living and is perfect for entertaining. Run your business from home in the private additional study or simply gaze over the enchanting rear yard and sparkling new swimming pool from the secluded master suite upstairs.
“Nerida Bawtree was our architect for the design and extension to our 1920's home in Willoughby. Nerida is an experienced professional and provided detailed drawings and specifications on all finishes & fixtures for our renovation.
Nerida had a strong understanding of our family's requirements for a spacious and functional home for our young family and helped us to achieve a creative design within our budget. Nerida designed the extension to be largely hidden from the street and retain the simplicity of the original home's frontage. Our favourite space is the main living / kitchen / dining room - with its high 4m ceilings and recycled brick fireplace and well considered ambient lighting, which flows through to the stylish kitchen and covered outdoor entertaining area, all with close proximity to being able to watch the kids swimming in the pool. The upstairs parents retreat is like our own private hotel room - it is sophisticated & comfortable, yet relaxing.
Nerida was a pleasure to work with and collaborated closely with all of the trades including plumber, electrician & joiner to ensure we achieved quality finishes throughout. We would highly recommend Nerida and appreciate the care & detail she put into designing our beautiful home. We love spending time in our home and entertaining family and friends is easy due to the well thought out design."
